this week had been a movie spree for me. watched 3 movies in 4days – “Penelope”, “Wanted” and “Get smart”. if i were to choose, i would say “Get smart” scores best with me.

“Penelope”

“Penelope” isnt the mass appeal kind of movie i guess. the theatre was kind of bare when i watched it. somehow i always have the impression that guys arent interested in romance flicks. it works wonder when you combine fairytale and romance, at least it works well for me. i find the movie rather meaningful.  romance and fairytale aside, the most heartwarming part about the movie is – love yourself and you will find happiness =]

 “Wanted”

bullets piercing through heads and mindless shooting; these are scenes you’ll find in “Wanted”. the whole movie is about shoot and kill Matrix-style. hmm the shooting scenes are cool, but i cant really find a proper logic behind the story.

“Get smart”

by far the most enjoyable would be “Get smart”. i must admit i wasnt keen to catch this show when i watched the trailer. cos it looked cheesy and lame to me. well the show is lame in some sense, but its packed with entertainment and humour in a creative way.  just imagine – laughter packed james bond comedy. lol.

tried the tiramisu flavoured ice cream with gan ma and mum at causeway pt gelare. yummy~ the 3 of us shared one whole pint of it. felt especially full after that, after having a filling meal at swensens earlier. glad i told mum to have ice cream at gelare instead of swensens. the ice cream texture is so much smoother. next time im gg to pamper myself with gelare’s ice cream again..

pestered mum to buy a Tefal steam iron at courts. afterall, courts was having their mega sale and its high time we invest in a good iron. especially so when i am the one who is always ironing my clothes , starting from pri6 onwards. haha im 老’鸟’ at ironing liao~ she kept saying i 念 her, which i admit i did,lol . well i just told her we needed an iron with steam function. household irons nowadays come in rather sleek designs, unlike the conventional one that we have been using. too bad they dun have the model in green. hmm.. blue doesnt seem too bad either. at least i dun have to pay for it, hee..

im quite glad that gan ma is staying over for the night. but quite a pity i couldnt make myself free to accompany her the next day due to fright night commitment. felt that my younger brother was a bit 不自动. its not that we get to meet up with gan ma often. so much for preparing to go for work when he was busy with warcraft…..

argh!!! one more week to reservist and its high key ICT. outfield exercise on the 1st 2 days some more. … sian ar..

whew! cant believe we sang for like 7 hours straight from 11pm yest to 6am today. the whole singing session was like our mini concert. queen, eve and jm were happily holding their SHE concert, lol. poor eve who was supposed to be selina kenna criticised as being a 花瓶. jm acted as ella but she could not sing the ‘中国话’ rap. the rap part goes : “倫敦瑪莉蓮 買了件旗袍送媽媽, 莫斯科的夫司基 愛上牛肉麵疙瘩, 各種顏色的皮膚,各種顏色的頭髮”. although queen was hebe, she did a pretty decent job with the rapping i tot. rapping the song certainly takes alot of practice.

i wasnt on good form yest. after singing a few songs my vocals went lao hong liao. din really warm up well.  tanya’s songs are quite nice to sing in ktv i realised, especially 3 of her songs in Goodbye and Hello like ‘达尔文’, ‘当你离开的时候’ and ‘空白格’.  somehow i feel she has a good chance to win GMA best female vocal this year, even though i do hope yanzi win it again, hee~

we ended our sessions with a string of yanzi’s songs. come to think of it, i haven went for ktv for like nearly half a yr liao. wahaha, almost gone rusty liao. after the session everyone was so dead beat and we sort of stoned a bit at macs after having breakfast.

gotta learn and practice some new songs for ktv session next week with 4/2 peeps. been quite a while since we met up~

it was my 2nd visit to hong lim market yesterday. the last time i went i remembered ordering the prawn noodles. yummy~ hong lim market has 2 prawn noodles stalls on the 2nd level and if im not wrong both of them are equally good.

this time i ordered wanton noodles from this rather appealing store. i noticed that business was brisk so i decided to try it out. Kh ordered bak chor mee from this other store which had recommendations from the press.

the portion of the wanton noodles was rather big, cos i asked for it to be 3bucks instead of the normal 2 dollar portion.  what i liked about the wanton noodles was the soup. the soup is one of the tastier i ever tried. many a times noodle stalls owners will neglect the quality of their soup, but definitely not this stall.  the soup has a sweet taste instead of the usual msg salty taste we commonly come across. . a problem i find with most wanton mee would be that the char siew is cold and unappealing, in some cases it is close to tasteless. however, the char siew given was tasty and they gave generous fillings for the wanton.

bak chor mee on the other hand tasted pretty normal even though they had press recommendations. after the meal, i bought a curry puff and a yam puff from this curry puff store. the curry puff tasted decent. its had a fragrant curry smell but i tot they could have added more chicken meat. the yam puff tasted better than average. what i like is that the crust carries a sweet flavour to it and it tasted like the cny new year goodies kok zai.

i’ll be back again for more good food~

yesterday we celebrated weilin’s birthday at clarke quay settler’s cafe. me, weilin, adeline and joselyn reached early and we started ordering food and drinks and proceeded to play some of their games. I order a focaccia chicken sandwich and a passionfruit dinosaur which is actually coke with passionfruit flavour. The focaccia sandwich tasted better than i expected. i was skeptical of the food being served at first. but after we tasted the food, we found them to be pretty good for a cafe that focuses on board gaming. the focaccia bread was crispy and fragant, yum yum~ however the portion chicken and egg mayo filling given was too little. could have been more and it would have been great. the passionfruit flavoured coke tasted wonderful. its such a wonder how passionfruit flavour can bring out the character in coke.

the first game played by 4 of us was called Blokus. this game looked simple but it actually requires strategy. each player is given a set of tiles in different shapes and players are required to discard as many tiles as they can by placing them on a board. in the end i won the game, yay~

the 2nd game we played was called Cartegena. this game is about pirates trying to escape from prison, and they do so by using whatever tools they can find. Cartegena consist of a escape route board and cards which players can use to plan and help their pirates escape and get onto the escape boat at the end of the route. once again, this game required strategy and thinking. i chose green (yay my fav colour~) for my team of pirates and won again~ yoohoo~

at about 8pm, audrey, jiamin and pinkbee arrived and joined us. after they proceeded to have their meals, we played Pit. Pit is similar to Heart Attack, just that each player holds 9 cards and instead of passing one card in a clockwise fashion, players are supposed to call out 1, 2 , 3 etc to signify the number of cards they wanna trade. trading can be done with any players with the corresponding number of cards called. this game made me lose my voice after all the vigorous shouting. even more siong then we went for any yanzi events, lol.

next, we proceeded to play Halli Galli. this is a card game where players are given an equal number of cards. each player will throw out one card at a time and when there are 5 of the same kind of fruits on the table, players are to vie to press the bell in the middle. the winner takes all the cards. for this game i was rather fast but also the most violent at the same time, lol. many a times i slammed hard on the bell. i lost count of how many times i slammed onto someone’s hands, ouch!..

eve and guojie joined us when our gaming time was almost up at ard 9pm. we were playing a fast version of charades then. jm acted as the judge and 6 of us were split into 2 teams. in the end my team won. seems that my luck was pretty good yesterday, almost winning every game that i was involved in.

when board gaming was over, we proceeded to where the reverse bungee station was and wanted to give the birthday girl a surprise by having her try out the ride. however, weilin was in a hurry to leave. everyone then proceeded to outside Cheers @ central. guojie mixed a concoction of baron’s strong brew, green tea whiskey and ABC ginseng stout for weilin. jiamin took out condiments she got from BK and started to squeeze them onto a wasabi flavoured donut. i thought the donut look super gross, but luckily we only asked weilin to take one bite, if not she will LS the following day. Happy Birthday to Weilin, =) !

yesterday was the last day of IA. i felt as though i was in my holiday mood, and a contributing factor could be it was dress-down day. the night before, i slept at 330am and woke up at 6am to do cards for my PEEGM colleagues. din expect the cards to take me that long to finish. wanted to use fabric paint for the cards at 1st but it din turn out well. had to settle with black marker instead. the trouble i faced was the lack of materials, so i had to make use of whatever stuff i could find. i think the card i made were somehow presentable ba, cos some of my colleauges commented it looked cute and i did a good job drawing the bee, lol. well, its a secret to my card making =] . Poh hwee handed me a farewell card with a cute kitten picture and Revathi passed me a present nicely wrapped up which is a disney photo frame. thanks for the kind thoughts to you two!

we went down to IMM Fish & Co for lunch. quite a number of colleauges joined us along when it was originally a PEEGM affair. i ordered a fish n chips set lunch considering it came along with clam chowder and a drink of my choice, which i chose to be passion fruit. the soup took a while to arrive, and to our dismay it was cold. the waitress helped us heated them up in the mircowave. the taste of the soup wasnt as good as i thought. was a bit watery and could be thicker. main course took a long while to arrive, and someone in the table mistakenly took my fish n chips. i had to settle down for a new york fish n chips instead.

the new york fish n chips tasted pretty good. the batter was crispy and the fish tasted fresh. what is different between the normal fish n chips and the new york one is that new york fish n chips had cheese sauce, which added a nice touch along with lemon juice squeezed onto the fish. my drink was sucky though. the passionfruit came with 3 quarter filled with ice, and the passion fruit flavour was weak compared to the last time i had it. on the whole their service standard was rather inefficient. Justin waited a long time for his order to arrive and he got rather pissed.

yummy! new york fish n chips

after lunch, Shaz, Justin, Michelle and me got back into poh hwee’s car. while Poh hwee was making a right hand turn at one of the junctions, a car honked at us and the driver flashed his middle finger. Poh hwee had the right of way and she felt angered, flashing back at the male driver. the male driver showed us more sign langauges and wanted us to follow him. what a dumb loser! who in the right mind would follow him. whats more, we have 3 guys and 2 girls in our car, while he was all alone. quite a nasty experience..

back to the office, the 3 interns including me returned our laptops and access cards. before we knocked off, we had a photo taking session. Shaz was funny. he wanted to be in each cubicle alone and pretended that he was the occupant of the cubicle. he posed and tried to mimic the occupant’s expressions and posture. however, he din really dare to do so when Simon offered him to do so. i think i could be bacuse Simon is our director and after all he is the big boss, lol.

dinner was taken at Vivo. come to think of it i had visited Vivo 3 times in 2 days. i got my desired t-shirt at pull n bear, which i had eyed on the day earlier. i love shopping~ after some shopping, me and Kh went to have a drink at Pacific Coffee. the ambience and decor there was cosy. really fantastic. we chose a seat that had a swing couch and the area had a wooden flooring. however it was non air-conditioned and it was slightly warm. the non air-conditioned area faces the sea and looked like the deck of a cruise ship. it definitely is a good place to chill out at.

the drinks we ordered were fantastic. we had ice chocolate paradize and caramel swirl. the ice chocolate paradize had crunchy chocolate bits and the chocolate taste was rich. its one of the best drinks i had at a coffee outlet. the ice caramel swirl tasted pretty decent. it tasted sweeter than the average ice blended coffee.

met allan on msn yesterday at ard 11. at 12 midnight the exams results was to be released. allan felt really nervous, saying that he got the feeling that he would be scoring a C, and that his grades will be sucky. i told him he will do better than that and we ended up settling on a bet. he suggested the bet to be a subway cold cut sandwich meal. at 1230am, i went into studentlink. tada~, i won! he did quite well overall for 7 modules, scoring a couple of A+. i was confident of the bet from the start and my judgement did not fail me. well, he was quite satisfied with the outcome and happily admitted defeat. i told allan i would not be ‘ke qi’ to him. great! i earned myself a free meal. yoohoo~ samuel did quite ok for his papers too, judging from his usual performance. well i was confident that these 2 buggers would do fine, even though they had told me how worried they are as the release date was drawing near.

watched my 3rd movie this month – what happened in Vegas. at first i thought wed would be the last screening of the movie as it had been screening for a couple of weeks already. nope it wasnt the case. to think that i die-die must watch it yesterday so as not to miss this supposedly good show. before the show, i bumped into toryuan and i thought i saw gavin with his gf before that.

Movie: What happened in Vegas

the show was great. i had my 1st laughter like 5 minutes into the show. what happened in Vegas is a romantic comedy and there were quite a couple of sex-related jokes and actions. i liked how ashton kutcher and cameron diaz bickered in the casino when what was supposed to be a peaceful breakup escalated into an exchange of vicious sarcasm. another funny scene was cameron diaz buying 5 oranges or apples (cant recall) and throwing them at ashton kutcher when they made their way to meet the marriage counsellor. cameron diaz certainly is a good pitcher. all 5 apples hit and the last one landed at the crotch. ouch! lol~ nice show i would say. let sees, i would give this show a rating of 79. a well balanced romance comedy.

this is the month of june. and guess what? its sale, sale and more sale. slowly, more sale signs are being put up. Levi’s is currently having a 20% storewide and i just bought a black t-shirt. im still comtemplating on whether to get a green checkered short sleeve shirt from there. the price is within my comfort zone after the discount. wait, there’s more! there is this Levi’s warehouse sale at aljunied and jeans are going at $49.90. good bargain sia! i will be meeting jonathan after work later to go check it out. shaz advised me to be careful of such sales as they might be fake goods. i remember the last time i kenna duped was the far east shopping centre A&F warehouse sale. the polo shirts look pretty authentic and even samuel said they looked exactly like the real one. in the end it turned out to be counterfeit goods. sian diao. but the good thing is the polo tees are of good quality. so it wasnt so much of a ripoff afterall. hope it will not be a wasted trip later. Adidas is having 30% off on selected items and Esprit is having up to 50% sale. spotted a possible purchase from Adidas. will check them out soon.

yay~ new black levi’s t shirt

just one more day to the end of IA. will be making cards tonight for my colleauges in PEEGM. with the start of GSS, im getting excited~ time to hit the stores..

Song title:

it was during JC when i first listened to this song. was totally blown off by the tune then. it was the first song that moved me to tears. well i guess thats the reason why i liked stefanie sun so much. she can really convey emotions well in her songs, so much to the extent that it will move listeners to tears. the song may be lesser unknown, but i feel that it is one of her best tracks to date and it is definitely my favourite song. even after listening to the song nowadays, i will feel touched. from the lyrics, the sentences i liked most would have to be 一点点你的微笑  已经让我觉得温暖 and 但还是要相信  相信感觉   相信简单.

i find the lyrics rather touching and endearing. the best part about the song which is being depicted is the optimism when facing adversities. whatever comes your way, brace yourself and face it. believe in yourself and you shall pull through.

I like the colour Green. no special reasons behind it. well something funny happened when i was in pri sch. back then my male peers seemed to choose blue or yellow as their favourite colour, and perhaps due to peer pressure, i chose to like blue, cos i thought its a guy’s colour. lol, quite dumb of me to deny green as my favourite colour just because its less commonly preferred. it was until last year that i re-ignited my passion for the colour Green. everything in green seems to look appealing to me, just like girls are crazy over pink. however, i definitely wont want to have my whole room in green. cos it would look as though im living in the jungle. whenever i go shopping for t-shirts, green t shirts and collar shirts never fail to capture my attention. any tops with green simply look fantastic!

I like sweet stuff. well, i guess im born with a sweet tooth. anything sweet will almost always agree with my palate. chocolate fudge cake topped with luscious chocolate sauce, secret recipe cheesecakes with rich creamy texture, starchy sweet KFC chili sauce to compliment the cripsy fried chicken, bubble tea with fruity flavoured syrup, shaved ice topped with mango puree mixed with mango juice from xu liu shan, center-filled flavoured donuts from donut factory or JCO, rum n raisin ice cream from haegen daz; give me sweet stuff and i will gladly indulge in them without much hesitation, yummy!~

i like to day dream. im a dreamer. i wish i have the ability to control time, so i could go back in time to rectify any mistakes i make or imperfections that happened in my life, or to have extra time to complete assignments, or to have extra time to study for exams, or to have more time to sleep until i feel that it is sufficient, or to stay at a stage of my life where i am free of worries and not grow up.

i wish i have the power to change my appearance, so that i will never have to be plagued with acne problems and hair problems, so that i can be more confident about my appearance.

i wish i have the ability to make things stay brand new and in mint condition, so that i will not have to worry about staining my favourite shirts, bags turning brown and yellow as time goes by, shoes getting dirty and having my specs stay in perfect condition.

i wish i can maintain the cleaniness of my house with just the click of my fingers, so that i do not need to worry about and dread doing housework, such as ironing my clothes everyday when i go for work/school/going out which i have done so since pri 6, sweeping and mopping the floor after which i will get sweaty and sticky and sometimes sneezing due to sensitiviy to dust, washing clothes and drying them and worrying whether they will dry when we are experiencing a rainy season.

i wish that there will be an invisible ans sheet whenever i go into the exam hall. so that i can finish my papers in half the allocated time and sleep or just leave early, yet scoring distinctions and keeping my friends in disbelief how i managed to score without studying for my papers.

i wish i have the ability to teleport myself and objects, so that i do not have to worry about running late and i can leave on the dot and go for my appoinments or go to sch or work. during lunch i can go to any place i like and grab a good bite. i can buy stuff when there is a sale and not worry about going at the wrong timings and have to wait for my turn to use the changing room. i can pass items to my friends without having the hassle to travel to and fro my place.

i wish i can resue the money that i have spent, so that i do not have to slog so hard to buy stuff that i need. with that few k in my bank, i can happily buy stuff that i want and not worry about going broke. i can go for expensive meals once in a while and not feel the pinch. i can buy gifts to give  pleasant surprises and stun my close ones without having to consider the price and praciticality of the product. i can make my home cosy and well furnished, looking like the interior of a private apartment yet having the facade of a normal HDB flat. i can go buy the whole season of levi’s t shirts and wear a different t shirt out everyday, from mon to fri.

i wish there were 48 hours in a day, so that there will be ample time for me to slack and sleep, and enough time for me to do what i need to do for the rest of the day.

well, these are just part of my imagination. i gotta admit im a creative person in some ways, lol. back to the real life, im just the simple and practical guy that i am and i dun really need the things i mentioned to be fulfilled.

contentment is the key to happiness

Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull

Narnia: Prince Caspian

watched 2 movies recently – Nania: Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones. it happens that i watched both films with the same person, my buddy kanghao.

Prince Caspian is a pretty decent show. well at least for me i very much enjoyed the show. probably because i have always preferred fantasy/fairytale themed movies. while watching the show, i was rummaging through the back of my mind, trying to recall the scenes from the first installation. i recalled the lion (Aslan), the witch who controls ice and the magical wardrobe which lead the kids to the world of Narnia. i remembered that lucy, the youngest of the 4 children, found a wardrobe in a mansion. her 2 brothers and sister did not quite believe her at first. until later when they entered the magical world of Narnia did they realise lucy was right.

The whole show proceeded quite smoothly. the fighting seqeunce was predictable but ok nonetheless. it definitely cant be compared to lord of the rings as it will certainly pale in comparision. one of the initial scenes reminded me of Harry Potter. there was this scene where the kids were at the train station and things surrounding them start to fade away and they were brought into another dimension – Narnia. in the show, Prince Caspian himself did not have much of fighting scenes. perhaps they could have improved on that. I liked the scene where the Narnians were attacking the castle. however it ended up tragically and they had to retreat in defeat, resulting in heavy casualties for the Narnians who were swarmed by enemy archers. the most exciting scene of the show has got to be the fighting between the evil king and peter. they had to stall for time for the lion Aslan to come.

I dun recall watching any earlier episodes of Indiana Jones. the whole movie was rather enjoyable and i have the feeling that im being taken on a ride for adventure and treasure hunt. shiok! the music, setting and costumes blended in amicably with the storyline. somewhat i was reminded of national treasure and davinci code. it is sort of a cross breed between the two, but it had a stronger flavour in its setting which is like the 1960s.

some scenes were hilarious even though the show wasnt meant to be comedic. there was this scene where the young lead actor ( cant rem his name in the show, only remembered that he acted in transformer) racked up a ruckus in a bar when he punched a male student from another sch. the bar was packed with male students from 2 different schs. The students from one sch seemed more academic inclined and they wore shirts and vest, while students from the rival sch wore rockstar pseudo elvis presley black leather outfit. the punch triggered a fight between students of the 2 rival schs, and soon everyone were throwing punches at one another. the young lead actor then grabbed the chance to make his escape from the bad guys.

towards the end of the show, the jeep chasing scene was pretty cool. the good guys fought against the bad guys while the vehicles moved through the jungle and they included this cool fencing fight scene between the young lead actor and the female russian commander/professor. the only part where i felt was a bit far-fetched was the alien scene towards the end of the show. pretty lame, leaving audience with the dotz feel. lol.

lets see, Narnia scores a 82 and Indiana Jones is awarded a score of 76. not too bad, at least i feel that my movies ticket were worthed their price.
